We’ve answered ket questions about the event below, but if you have any other queries, email: committee@meotra.org
Questions:
I have a cute/waggy dog - how do I enter the show?
The dog show will take place at 2pm. Come with your pet on a lead to the paved area in the square and we’ll direct you. Our impartial judge will decide who will be crowned “MEOTRA top dog”. If you have an outgoing cat, budgie or gerbil - all pets are welcome for the contest.
My child would like to enter the fancy dress competition. How does it work?
Any children who would like to show off their fancy dress should come to the paved area in the square at 2:15pm. It will be a kind-hearted judging process as we want to celebrate everyone who makes the effort to dress up.
How will the tug of war work?
We have grand visions of the various MEOTRA streets going head to head to see who is the strongest street. Will it be the Rugged Rhondda Grove who triumphs or perhaps the Muscly Morgan Street? Gather together your team of 8 and sign up in advance here or at the information stall on the day. The tug of war will take place at 2:30pm.
I’d like to volunteer, am I too late?
No! We’d appreciate your help. Please email us at committee@meotra.org or add yourself to the volunteer plan here .
I’d like to donate a cake for the cake stall, what should I do?
Thank you! Please bring any cakes or delicious baked goods (sweet or savoury) to the stall on the day. Please include a note of the ingredients so that we can let everyone know what they contain. You may also check out this guide for making food for community events. If you can’t make the fair, but would still like to donate, email us at committee@meotra.org and we can make other arrangements.
I’d like to donate books/toys/plants for the stalls, what should I do?
Thank you! We’d welcome any books (adults’ and children’s) and toys in good condition. For the plant stall, any seedlings or plants that you can spare would be brilliant. Please bring them along to the fair. If you can’t make the fair, but would still like to donate, email us at committee@meotra.org and we can make other arrangements.
Will food and drink be available?
In addition to the cake stall we will have a bar offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We’ll have free squash for the children and we’ll also have tea and coffee too. Feel free to bring your own picnic or snacks to enjoy/share with friends.
Do I need to get a ticket?
No! Entry to the Fun Day is free and open to all MEOTRA residents.
What will I have to pay for?
So that everyone can join in, all of the activities and entertainment at the Fun Day are free. To help contribute to costs, there will be a few paid elements. These will be: bar (though squash will be available for free), cakes, tea and coffee, ice-cream, plant stall, book stall, toy stall. We will also have a card-reader for optional donations. The money raised will contribute to future MEOTRA events for the area.
Do I need cash?
We will have a card reader for the bar, but please bring some change for the stalls.
What happens if it rains?
It’s British summer - of course it won’t rain! Who are we kidding! Unless the weather is unsafe, we will go ahead and have fun despite any drizzle.
